The whole idea behind Crumb is to help reunite lost pets with their owners in as little time as possible. Whilst Microchips have helped reunite many lost pets with their owner, it takes much longer and relies more on the person who found your lost pet to take them to the vet, which would not be the case if your pet was wearing a Crumb Tag.
We can talk on and on about why Crumb Tags are perfect to go alongside a Microchip. To keep things easy, we've summed it up into the top three reasons why:
Anyone can scan the tag
Crumb Tags can be scanned by anyone with a smartphone. Which is pretty much everyone these days!
Microchips can only be scanned by Vets, assuming that the vet has a chip reader that is compatible with the pet's microchip. Thats right, not all Microchips are compatible with all readers!
Whoever scans your pet's tag will also be able to call you, as well as share their exact location with you via SMS. Leading to a much swifter reunion with your lost
No vet trip is required
Since anyone can scan a Crumb tag and share their location with you, you do not need to worry about the person who finds your missing pet having to take them to a vet. That is assuming that the person who finds your pet has the means (i.e. a car) to get them to a vet!
Easy to update information
There are so many stories out there about microchipped pets who are unable to be reunited with their owners due to out-of-date information on their microchips.
Whilst you can update some microchip information online, you'll need to have the microchip number saved somewhere, or else you'll need to take a trip to the vet to have the microchip read.
On the other hand, updating information on your Crumb tag is easy and can be done at any time from within the Crumb Dashboard.
Microchips are great for backup identification. They are not visible, require specialist equipment and heavily rely on the person who finds the missing pet to bring them to a vet.
Crumb tags offer a faster, easier and more reliable way to be reunited with your missing pet. No vet trips, no specialist equipment, and no long waits required.
