How does SnoutID® work?
To use SnoutID®, you need to take a picture of your pet's nose via the Crumb App. Our systems will then analyze the nose print and create a unique identification for your pet. This identification is stored securely on our servers, along with your pet's other information, such as their name, breed, and allergy information.
When you need to identify a pet via its snout, you can use the SnoutID® scanner (coming soon) to scan its nose. The algorithm will compare the new scan to the ones stored on our servers to confirm the pet's identity.
One of the main benefits of SnoutID® is that it deters pet thieves. Potential buyers of pets can check the SnoutID® database to see if the pet they are thinking of buying is in the database. If the pet is on the database, it is a strong indication that the pet has been stolen, as the original owner would have registered the pet's SnoutID® in the database.
This creates a significant deterrent to would-be pet thieves and helps to increase the chances of lost or stolen pets being reunited with their owners.
